The Cowgirls Bid at Three Straight Spoiled by Oral Roberts

The McNeese State Cowgirls won the Southland Conference tournament each of the last two years, and after two impressive victories this week, the ladies looked willing and able to make it three in a row. But top seed Oral Roberts had other ideas, eliminating McNeese 79-66.

Caitlyn and Ashlyn Baggett led a furious second-half rally that cut the Oral Roberts lead from 12 to 4, but the Golden Eagles answered the challenge and the Cowgirls would get no closer.

Caitlyn Baggett scored 20 points and Ashlyn totaled 16 in their final college game. The Baggett twins leave McNeese State not only as two of the greatest players in school history, but also two of the most important. In Katy, Texas, I'm Drew Shirley, KPLC 7 Sports.
