CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) - A Sulphur man is accused in a home invasion case, according to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

John C. West, 42, was arrested on charges stemming from a home invasion incident that occurred on March 13 at a Sulphur home.

Authorities said upon arrival at the scene, deputies were advised that West had kicked in the victim's front door and upon entering the home, went inside the bedroom where the victim and a family member were. He reportedly began beating the bed with a baseball bat.

West, the ex-boyfriend of the victim, allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair and pulled her onto the floor.

Authorities said West grabbed the victim's purse and fled the scene before deputies arrived.

On Thursday, detectives located West at his home and arrested him without incident.

West was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with home invasion, domestic abuse battery and child endangerment, criminal damage to property and theft under $500.

Judge David Ritchie set his bond at $120,000.
