LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The new and improved Millennium Park will debut Saturday.
The park, located on the Lake Charles lakefront, features swings and play sets for children to enjoy. There is also a splash park, walking path and more.
Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach said the entire city is excited about the grand reopening.
Volunteers and donations helped rebuild the park after it was heavily damaged by fire.
More than $400,000 was raised for the rebuild.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the main entrance shade pavilion.
Officials said during the festivities, the city's Recreation and Parks Department will provide face painting, a children's train ride and character balloons.
The hours of operation for the park will be as follows: Summer Season: April – October, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Winter Season: November to March, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The public is encouraged to attend.
