Beauregard Parish rabies clinics set Saturday

BEAUREGARD PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

The Beauregard Parish Health Unit and local veterinarians will hold the parish's annual rabies clinic day on Saturday, April 6.

The vaccination, rabies tag and certificate will be at a low cost of $8 for dogs and cats.

The doctors will be located at the following sites throughout the morning of April 6:

Dr. G.J. Abdalla – Beauregard Veterinary Clinic, 3014 Hwy. 171 South, DeRidder; from 8 a.m. to noon. For more, call 337-463-2001.

Dr. Bert Coco – Junction Grocery, Merryville; from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Dr. Sally Coco – Westside Veterinary Clinic, 3476 Hwy. 190 West, DeRidder; from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. For more, call 337-463-3922.

Dr. Catherine White – Foreman's Meat Market, Dry Creek; from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and Brewer's Grocery, Bundick Lake; from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. She will also be at Paws and Claws Animal Hospital, 2243 Hwy. 171, DeRidder; from 10:30 a.m. to noon. For more, call 337-463-2838.

Dr. Ted Hoerner – Hoerner Veterinary Hospital, 1625 N. Pine Street, DeRidder; from 8 a.m. to noon; and St. Pius X Catholic Church, Ragley; from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. He will also be at the Country One Stop in Longville from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

    A heat advisory has been issued for our area through the day today. This advisory begins at 11 am and lasts until 8 pm tonight. This advisory is due to forecast highs in the mid-90s combined with dewpoints in the 70s. These two-combined causes the heat index to soar between 108 and 112. Through the day today expect hot and mostly sunny conditions. Feels-like temperatures expected to reach between 108-112 this afternoon.

    An upset at the CITGO Lake Charles Refinery caused several unit shutdowns and flaring, according to CITGO Lake Charles Government and Public Affairs Manager, Dana Keel.
