LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A program called "Dancing Classrooms" has taught some amazing life lessons to students at R.W. Vincent Elementary in Sulphur.

The fifth graders have been participating in the 10-week program where they have learned a variety of ballroom dances.

Special guest Grace Fleenor visited the school.

She is with the original dancing classrooms program in New York.

Fleenor said she was impressed with what our local students have learned.

"They get to learn different ballroom dances. It is an arts education program so within these dancing classrooms, they learn the merengue, foxtrot, rumba, tango, waltz and swing, but it's really important that they learn between the dance. They get to learn about social awareness, respect, confidence and team work. They continue to change partners and it's just an amazing transition and you see within the 10 weeks of the classes," she said.

The students at Vincent Elementary were chosen for the special visit because of their wonderful work in the learning the dances.
