McNeese basketball gears for postseason play

The Cowgirls will enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will play No. 8 Northwestern State at 11 a.m. on Wednesday to kick-off the bracket. Should the Cowgirls win and advance, they'll play at 11 a.m. on Thursday against No. 4 Nicholls. A possible semifinal matchup against No. 1 Oral Roberts will be played at 11 a.m. on Friday while the championship game will tip at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

On the men's side, the Cowboys will face No. 5 Nicholls at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. McNeese is coming off a 91-88 double-overtime win over the Colonels on Saturday. If the Cowboys win, they'll face No. 4 Southeastern Louisiana at 5 on Thursday and a possible semifinal matchup against No. 1 Stephen F. Austin at 5 on Friday. The men's championship game will be carried live on ESPN2 at 7:30 on Saturday.

    Theaters around the country including right here in Lake Charles are selling out for the movie Black panther.  But for many in the community they got a chance to see the movie for free, thanks to one Lake Charles native.  The mall food court was packed Saturday.  As a large group enjoyed their tea,lemonade, pizza and boudin, but the mall food court wasn't their final stop.     It's been more than five years in the making, but Saturday Captain Daniel Johannes Goos now stands over the lakefront in Lake Charles.  Crowds of people gathered by the Lakefront Promenade this morning all waiting to see the the statue of Captain Daniel Johannes Goos.  "When you mention Captain Daniel Goos you may get he sounds familiar or if you're lucky you get oh like Goosport," said descendant Erik Jessen.
