LSUS got some timely hitting and another quality outing from their starting pitcher as the no. 2 LSU Shreveport Pilots completed the series sweep over the Huston Tillotson Rams 13-2 in seven innings at Pilot Field in Red River Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon. LSUS outhit the visitors, 12-6.

Kyle Pearson led the offensive attack for the Pilots going 4-5 with a double, a two-run homer, and five runs batted in. Greg Friesen was the only other Pilot with more than one hit as he finished 2-3 with three rbis.

LSUS (16-7, 6-3 RRAC) took the lead in the bottom of the first and never looked back as Pearson got his monster day started with a two-run double to center to put the Pilots on top 2-1 and he later scored on an error by the HTU short stop.

Friesen's two-run single was the big blow in the Pilots three-run third inning as the home squad continued to pour it on the visitors ERA which ended with a 16.50 for the weekend series. Friesen added another run on the board with a rbi-single in the fourth.

Pearson's has tied Ridge Gonsoulin now for the team lead with four homers after his two-run blast in the bottom of the fifth inning as part of another three spot on the board. The final two runs, which forced the 10-run rule for the third time this series, was brought in with a two-run single by Kym Barthel after Jared Vial walked to lead off the inning and William Breland hit a screamer to left field to set the table for Barthel.

Jason Mouton (4-1) picked up the win for the Pilots tossing a solid five innings scattering six hits allowing only two runs while striking out three in his walk-free performance. The Pilots saddled HTU's Anthony Luna (1-4) with the loss after four and a third innings allowing eight hits, 10 runs (7 earned), five walks and no strikeouts in 103 pitches.

The Pilots hit .458 for the series as Pearson led all Pilot hitters going 10-14 with two doubles, two homers, and nine rbis. K. J. Semien was not far behind as he was 7-10 with two triples four rbis while Friesen was 5-8 with a double, homer, and eight rbis. LSUS dominated the bases going a perfect 11-11 in the steals department.

The LSUS pitching staff had a great series posting a 1.71 ERA in 21 innings with 21 strikeouts compared to just four walks.

The Pilots will take on the LSU Alexandria Generals on Tuesday afternoon at Pilot Field with the double header set to begin at 4 p.m.
