JEFF DAVIS PARISH, LA (KPLC) -
Four Lake Charles men are accused of stealing 85 pounds of live crawfish from farmers' fields, according to a news release from the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office.
Christopher Ivey, commander of the department's criminal investigations division, reports that the Sheriff's Office made the arrests Thursday morning.
Ivey said patrol deputies discovered the four men on Compton Road in Roanoke, parked in a vehicle with no lights. Ivey said deputies recovered a plastic tub with about 85 pounds of live crawfish in it.
Arrested were 31-year-old Elliott Clark III; 27-year-old Isaiah Clark; Randall Clark (age unavailable); and 24-year-old Donald Watson Jr.
All were charged with theft. Bond was set at $10,000 for each.
According to Sheriff Ivey Woods, deputies have received numerous complaints of stolen crawfish from area farmers.
Woods said patrol units are "aggressively" looking for suspects trespassing and taking crawfish from fields.
