Seventh Heaven: Fairview routs Lacassine for 7th straight Class B title

MONROE, LA (KPLC) -

We knew generally that history would be made Wednesday night in Monroe, we just didn't know the specifics.

Would Fairview win again to take home an incredible seventh straight Class B title?

Or would the Lacassine Lady Cardinals finally break through and get a win for Eddie Michalko in his final game as head coach?

Lady Panthers and Lady Cardinals fired up for the rematch in Monroe.

And early on, Hayley Guidry finds Madyson Brasseaux and Lacassine is on the board.

But Fairview comes right back, Maghan Cooley to Ashlea Vizena to Karli West for 3 ... Bang and the Lady Panthers lead 11-2.

Then it's Gabby Leonards with the steal, she gets it ahead to Ashlea Vizena and Fairview takes a double digit lead in the 2nd.

Lacassine fighting back ... Abbie Melanson with the block, Lady Cards go the other way, and Melanson gets it back and sticks the jumper, Lady Cards down 29-15.

Fairview pours it on in the 2nd half ... Maghan Cooley with the steal, then drive for the basket AND the foul! Lady Panthers up by 21.

Then Cooley again, another and 1 and it's 52-27 Fairview in the 4th.

And then Katie Lemieux puts the game away. 13 rebounds, 17 points, Katie Lemieux is your MVP...

And the Fairview Lady Panthers are champions once again! Fairview beats Lacassine 71-38 to make it an incredible, historic seven state championships in a row.
