Chavez Flag Controversy - KPLC 7 News, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Chavez Flag Controversy

Good afternoon. This is Cynthia Arceneaux from the KPLC newsroom. The death of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is causing controversy in the Lake Area. It appears some residents are upset because the local Citgo plant is flying its flags at half staff in honor of the Venezuelan leader. Citgo is owned by Venezuela. We'll be hearing from those for and against the celebratory gesture towards a man, who definitely was at odds with the U.S.

Residents near that sinkhole in Assumption Parish want to know why Governor Bobby Jindal has not visited the site yet. The giant hole first appeared back in August. Today, Governor Jindal sidestepped questions from reporters.

And help is on the way for small businesses in Cameron Parish. The Chairman of the Delta Regional Authority was here to announce a 375 thousand dollar investment in Cameron. The investment will come in the form of the Cameron Local Enterprise And Recruiting Center... Or CLEAR. The center will serve as an incubator for all types of small businesses.

@And are we in for more falling temperatures tonight? Wade Hampton will have your latest weather forecast. Hope to see you today on Live At Five and 7news At Six.
