Edwards addresses Kinder chamber, speaks about reality show and politics

KINDER, LA (KPLC) -

Former Governor Edwin Edwards and wife, Trina, were in Southwest Louisiana on Monday with a film crew following closely behind.

They are the focus of an upcoming reality show called The Governor's Wife from the producers of Pawn Stars.

The crew captured the governor's address on Monday to the Kinder Chamber of Commerce at the chamber's annual banquet.

Even though he has been out of the office for some time, Edwards didn't let the cameras stop him from criticizing Gov. Bobby Jindal's budget plans and his proposal to eliminate the state income tax.

Edwards also made a few predictions about the issue.

"If it does pass, both he and the Legislature that passes it are going to regret it," he said.

Edwards said the proposed sales and property tax increases would cause a backlash among voters if the plan becomes law.

As for the reality show, The Governor's Wife is set to air on A&E.

The network has ordered 12 episodes thus far.

The show will debut sometime this year, but producers say there is no firm date yet.
