LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -
The Lake Charles Police Department responded Monday to a traffic accident in the I-210/La. 14 area in Lake Charles.
No fatalities have been reported but two men were injured in the crash, authorities said.
Authorities said a truck was traveling eastbound on I-210, and early investigation leads them to believe that the driver lost consciousness, drifted over the median into opposing traffic and ran off of the interstate into a tree near Exit 8 on La. 14.
Deputy Chief Mark Kraus with the Lake Charles Police said officers were called to respond to a fatality, but upon arrival at the scene, both occupants of the truck were taken to area hospitals.
One occupant of the vehicle, the driver, is in critical condition, authorities said.
KPLC's Gerron Jordan will have more information as it becomes available.
