Pope Benedict XVI's final day in power

Good Thursday morning to you!  Britney Glaser here in the KPLC 7Newsroom with a look at what's in store on today's Sunrise:

*It's Pope Benedict XVI's final day in power, the first pope to resign in 600 years.  We'll have live coverage from the Vatican on this historic day.

*In Congress, Senate democrats and republicans will each propose competing bills today to head off the sequester cuts.  Find out what those bills entail and if anything is expected to pass before tomorrow's deadline.

*Since prehistoric times, plants and their extracts have been used for their healing properties.  In the plant rich state of Louisiana there are hundreds of native plants that could hold the key to unlocking life-saving medication.  I'll have a special Healthcast report.

*Anxiety and stress are being indicated as the primary reasons dozens of teachers in Southwest Louisiana are resigning or retiring.  We'll talk to the Jeff Davis Parish Assistant Superintendent about the turnover.

*Another beautiful day is in store today, but how chilly will it be?  Meteorologist Ben Terry has that answer and your forecast for the weekend.

Make it a Sunrise day!
