CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles woman is accused of injuring an 86-year-old woman, according to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Jennifer D. Demary, 42, has been charged with second-degree battery and cruelty to the infirm in the case.

Authorities said at around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to a local hospital regarding the welfare of the elderly woman.

Authorities said upon arrival, deputies discovered that during an examination by doctors, the woman was found to have suffered a fractured hip, abrasions to her head and skin tears on her hand.

Authorities said during further investigation, detectives learned that Demary contacted the woman at approximately 4:15 a.m. Tuesday for a ride to a home on Orange Street in Lake Charles.

Authorities said upon arrival to the home, Demary reportedly demanded money and the elderly woman's car keys. Demary allegedly pushed the woman to the ground, causing the injuries, when she refused.

Judge Clayton Davis set bond in the case at $65,000.
