McNeese holds career fair

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

McNeese State University held its Spring Career Fair on Monday.

The event was from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the memorial gym.

More than 80 companies participated.

Career Services Director Kathy Bond said with the economy on an upswing in Southwest Louisiana, participation from employers spiked.

McNeese students of all majors, as well as alumni, participated in the fair.

Graduating seniors seeking to develop job leads as well as those seeking internships and part-time employment were encouraged to bring resumes.

    A massive new $200 Million housing project planned in Calcasieu Parish was announced Thursday night. The Sugarcane Townes will be located near Iowa, and the development will bring in 600 new homes.

    Sharel Hebert, a realtor at Century 21 in Lake Charles, said the planned housing development is a much-needed addition to the housing market in Calcasieu Parish.
