CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles man is accused of cruelty to the infirm, according to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Matthew F. Taylor, 42, is accused of striking a 72-year-old female numerous times, causing bruising. Taylor is charged with violation of a protective order, second-degree battery and cruelty to the infirm.

Authorities said on Feb. 12, deputies were dispatched to a home in Lake Charles in reference to a disturbance.

Authorities said the investigation also revealed the elderly victim had an active protective order against Taylor.

Authorities said medical emergency personnel responded and transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment.

During an examination by doctors, authorities said the victim was found to have suffered from a fractured collar bone, two sprained wrists and multiple contusions to the head, upper arms and hands.

Authorities said Taylor, who reportedly has a lengthy criminal history, was arrested Friday. Authorities said Taylor's criminal history includes six arrests for simple battery against the same female since 2005.

Bond in the case is set at $75,000.
