One killed in Thursday crash in Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Lake Charles on Thursday, according to a news release from the Lake Charles Police Department.

Katherine P. Harris, 63, of Lake Charles, died in the crash.

Authorities said the crash happened around 5:05 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Dr. Michael Debakey Drive and East Street.

Harris was reportedly traveling eastbound on Dr. Michael Debakey Drive when she lost control and veered off the roadway, striking the southwest corner of a building.

Harris was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Lake Charles Police, the Lake Charles Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance responded.

Authorities said the investigation into the crash continues.
