CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A Sulphur woman is accused of burglary and theft after she allegedly stole items out of an SUV, according to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said at around 4:45 a.m. on Feb. 12, Calcasieu deputies were dispatched to a Sulphur nightclub in reference to an SUV that had been burglarized.

Authorities said 23-year-old Crystal D. McClelland is accused of stealing a person's keys which were reportedly sitting on the establishment's bar.

McClelland allegedly went to the victim's SUV in the nightclub parking lot and removed several items, including a cell phone and a purse containing credit cards.

Authorities said McClelland then returned the keys before the victim realized they were missing.

"After leaving the nightclub, McClelland made over $250 in purchases with the stolen credit card, including buying gas for her vehicle, cigarettes from a local gas station and food from a local restaurant," the release states.

Authorities said during further investigation, deputies received video surveillance from the Sulphur nightclub which reportedly captured McClelland entering the victim's SUV and stealing items.

"McClelland confirmed she stole the items from the victim's SUV and used the credit card to purchase items at the local gas station and restaurant," the release states.

McClelland was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary, theft under $500, theft $500--$1,500 and unauthorized use of an access card.

Judge Michael Canaday set bond in the case at $24,500.
