VERNON PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A DeRidder man is accused of aggravated sexual battery, according to a news release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said 44-year-old Ernest W. Murray Sr., aka Billy Murray, was booked on one count of aggravated sexual battery.

Bond in the case is set at $50,000.

Authorities said Murray's arrest came after an investigation into an allegation of sexual abuse.

Authorities said Vernon detectives were contacted by the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office regarding the complaint. The alleged abuse was reported to have happened in Vernon Parish in 2005.

Murray is facing a similar charge in Beauregard Parish. Bond on that charge is also set at $50,000.

The cases reportedly involve two alleged victims.

Both agencies continue to investigate.

Murray remains in custody.
