Second Degree Murder Arrest

This is Cynthia Arceneaux from the KPLC newsroom. The ex-husband of a Lake Charles woman murdered last summer... Has now been arrested in connection with her death. Calcasieu Parish authorities say 38 year old Billy Ray Harris is charged with second degree murder in the death of 38 year old Raymona Gilmore. She was found July 29th last year inside a home at the Quailridge Mobile Home Estates on East Gauthier Road. Billy Ray Harris's bond is set at a half million dollars.

Three people were hurt after their SUV was struck by a train in Allen Parish. State Police say it happened early this morning on Liberty Cemetery road, just north of Highway 190. Authorities say 32 year old Pamela Thompson of Elton drove into the path of the oncoming Union Pacific Freight train.

And Governor Bobby Jindal is asking the White House for a Disaster Declaration for parts of the state inundated with flooding during severe storms last month.     A DeQuincy businessman has the distinction of being one of the first National Guard members to represent his town. It had been five years since World War II and Ed Wilcox found himself serving his country in the National Guard. Wilcox was too young to serve in the war, but felt the guard could keep him trained.

    Three suspects in a homicide at an RV park on Broad Street Saturday morning have been arrested, according to the Lake Charles Police Department. LCPD responded to a 911 call in reference to an armed robbery and shooting at the Twelve Palms RV Park around 6 a.m. Saturday, July 22.
