State Police say a crash involving an 18-wheeler and a 1995 Nissan Frontier killed 25-year-old Tressa Hoffpauir. She was the driver of the Nissan.
It happened Monday evening on Interstate 10 in the westbound lanes at mile marker 53, just west of the Welsh exit.
State Police say Hoffpauir drove onto the right shoulder, then abruptly drove back onto the westbound right lane into the path of an 18-wheeler. The 18-wheeler then struck the driver's side of the Nissan.
Hoffpauir was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Two passengers in her vehicle were transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries. None of the occupants of the Nissan were wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
