Report: Saints want to restructure Vilma and Smith's contracts

NEW ORLEANS (WAFB) -

The New Orleans Saints have asked linebacker Jonathan Vilma and defensive end Will Smith to restructure their contracts according to an ESPN report.

The Saints are currently $13.5 million over the salary cap and Smith carries a $10.5 million salary for 2013, while Vilma would be owed $6 million.

Smith and Vilma were involved in the Saints bounty scandal.

Last week the Saints restructured linebacker Curtis Lofton's contract, saving the team around $4 million.
