A Beaumont television station is reporting that a body believed to be that of a Vinton woman has been found in Newton County, Texas.
KFDM-TV reports that Newton County Sheriff Eddie Shannon said information given to authorities led them to a hunting club off State Highway 62 on Friday evening.
Authorities believe the body is that of Tami Higginbotham.
According to the station, Higginbotham was reported missing by family members last week.
Shannon reportedly told the station that officers recognized features on the body, including tattoos, matching that of Higginbotham.
An autopsy is reportedly pending, the station reports.
Authorities tell KDFM that according to family members, Higginbotham traveled from Vinton to Orange to meet a man about purchasing a cell phone.
The station reports that according to authorities, that man has been taken into custody in another state and is a person of interest in the case.
The Orange Police Department is also assisting in the investigation.
