JEFF DAVIS PARISH, LA (KPLC) -
The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Department officials said a crop duster plane crashed Friday evening south of Jennings, killing the pilot.
The plane apparently hit a communications tower before crashing near Highway 1126 and Castex Landing.
The plane was owned by Riceland Aviation in Jennings.
The Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office has identified the pilot as 52-year-old William Precht Jr. of Lacassine.
We're told he had been flying for more than 30 years.
Investigators said he failed to respond to radio calls. A co-worker began searching for plane and discovered plane down in field off Highway 1126.
Precht's funeral services will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh. Visitation is Monday, Feb. 18, 4 - 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19 starting at 10 a.m.
