DERIDDER, LA (KPLC) -
The man accused in the stabbing death of a 4-year-old was indicted in 36th Judicial District Court this week on a charge of second-degree murder.
John W. Hatfield III, 25, is charged in the stabbing death of his nephew.
According to a news release from Beauregard Parish District Attorney David W. Burton, the stabbing happened Dec. 18 at a home in the Graybow area in Beauregard.
Bond in the case is set at $750,000 and Hatfield remains in custody.
Burton said an arraignment will be scheduled and a trial date will be set thereafter.
Burton said a Beauregard Parish grand jury met in special session Wednesday and Thursday, issuing several indictments, including the one for Hatfield.
