BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A new national poll says Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is way
down in the polls, getting only a 37 percent approval rating. Two years ago the
same poll had Jindal at 57 percent. The poll was conducted by Public
Policy Polling of North Carolina. They primarily poll for Democrats.
"I don't worry about polls," said Gov. Jindal on Thursday.
"There are enough politicians, too many politicians that worry about that. I'm
going to worry about Louisiana. We've made a lot of progress but we still have
more work to do."
The new poll that places Jindal at a 37 percent approval
rating was conducted Friday through Tuesday by surveying 603 Louisiana voters.
Political analyst Jim Engster says the poll could hurt
Jindal when the session starts in April. "If that's the case it will make it a
challenge for Gov. Jindal to get some of his ambitious agenda endorsed by
lawmakers who think he's falling with the electorate," says Engster.
