Local residents on stranded cruise ship arrive today

Happy Thursday morning to you!  Britney Glaser here in the KPLC 7Newsroom with a look at what's in store on today's Sunrise:

*The Carnival cruise ship that has been stranded in the Gulf of Mexico for days is closer to land this morning, carrying some passengers from Southwest Louisiana.  KPLC's Gerron Jordan is in Mobile, Alabama this morning, waiting for the passengers' arrival.

*Happening today, the ongoing trial of a man accused of beating and raping a 94-year-old DeQuincy woman will resume.  We have the latest on the case prosecutors call "brutal."

*In Abbeville, a teen faces two murder charges this morning.  Police say the 17-year-old killed two brothers Tuesday morning.

*It's Valentine's Day and the return of a Sunrise tradition!  We will have the Sweet Adelines Quartet, "Out of Control," joining us for live performances in the studio.

    A single-vessel boating accident on the Sabine River near Niblett's Bluff Park Sunday evening has resulted in two children being seriously injured, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The injured children have been taken to the hospital, and one child is in critical condition, said Lt. Beau Robertson, LDWF spokesman.

    Overnight, we will have clouds clear and will become mostly clear. Temperatures will slowly fall to the mid 70s. It will feel very warm due to the humidity. Heat indices will be in the 80s, throughout the night. Monday, the day of the eclipse, there is just a 30% chance of rain, so we will most likely have a few clouds during the time of the eclipse. There could be a few showers around the peak of the eclipse, but more likely, at least some clouds.
