SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

A 31-year-old Sulphur woman is accused of stealing items from a family member, including a credit card to make fraudulent purchases.

Ashley R. Murphy was arrested Feb. 11 and is charged with simple burglary, theft under $500, forgery, identity theft and unauthorized use of an access card.

According to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, on Feb. 10, deputies were dispatched to a Sulphur home in reference to a burglary.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the reported victim who said that Murphy, a family member, entered his home without permission and stole several items including golf clubs, purses, checkbooks, credit cards and Social Security cards.

Murphy allegedly used the victim's credit card to purchase a room at a local hotel. Authorities said she also purchased gas from a local gas station by forging one of the stolen checks.

Authorities said when questioned, Murphy confirmed the allegations.

Judge Michael Canaday set her bond at $176,500.
