LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The second annual Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (CBWI) Conference will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Central School at 809 Kirby Street in Lake Charles.

During the conference, there will be break-out sessions featuring guest speakers from Dallas, Houston, Baton Rouge and Lake Charles. The speakers will include authors and artists explaining the process of writing and illustrating children's books.

Local authors and artists will also be on-hand selling their work. Featured independent publishers, Ally-Gator BookBites Publishing House, will be attending.

In addition, Tommie Townsley and Linda Hurst will announce their new publishing house in Lake Charles.

Lunch will be provided by McAlister's Deli and door prizes will be given away. Books-A-Million will have books available about writing, art, publishing, marketing and more.

The cost is $45 in advance or $50 at the door.
