Rain or shine: Lundi Gras events to roll on

Happy Monday morning to you! Britney Glaser here in the KPLC 7Newsroom with a look at what's ahead on today's Sunrise:

*It's the day before Mardi Gras and that means it's for the Royal Gala - a Lundi Gras tradition spotlighting the 2013 courts.

*Find out what's in store for Fat Tuesday festivities and how the rain is impacting some of the plans.

*We'll have the latest on a tornado that tore through Hattiesburg, Mississippi - destroying parts of the University of Southern Mississippi campus.

*In health news, a newer way to remove blood clots from a stroke patient's brain doesn't appear to offer any benefit over an older treatment. We'll look into that study and new numbers regarding teen pregnancies in the United States.

*Just in: NBC reports that the pope will resign on February 28th. We're still learning about this story and will keep you in the loop as information develops.

*We're opening the Sunrise Pet Shop to introduce you to an animal in need of a new home!

Make it a Sunrise day!
