Omega rolls through downtown; officials watching the forecast

Good Afternoon,

Lee Peck from the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on today.

Mardi Gras is in full swing in Southwest Louisiana. The Krewe of Omega Parade rolled through downtown Lake Charles. We're there as parade goers lined the streets begging for shiny beads.

And the party went to the dogs behind the Civic Center. The annual Krewe of Barkas had costumed pooches of all sizes parading down Bord du Lac Drive.

We'll also show you the sights and sounds from Mamou as more than 1,000 people helped kick off festivities with a street party before Fat Tuesday's traditional chicken run.

But the big question is will it rain on the Children's Parade Sunday? SWLA Mardi Gras officials tell us they are closely monitoring the weather and will alert us of any changes to the schedule of events. – Meteorologist Cedric Haynes is here with the forecast.

We hope you'll join us tonight at six for these stories and more. Until then log on to for news, sports and weather updates 24 hours a day.
