HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -
An explosion rocked the Houston County community of Weldon late Tuesday morning. The community, which is near Lovelady, is about 19 miles from Crockett. One man was life-flighted to the Burn Center for treatment of serious burns.
David Lamb, Houston County's fire Marshall, said there was a small explosion at two storage tanks at the Navidad Resources Weldon Gas Processing Plant located on County Road 3575 in Weldon. The explosion occurred at 11:10 a.m. Because the incident is still under investigation, authorities are not releasing the man's name.
Fire crews from the Weldon, Lovelady, Crockett, and Austonio fire departments battled the blaze sparked by the explosion for about 45 minutes before they got it under control.
