IOWA, LA (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man, accused in a Beaumont robbery, is being held by Iowa police after a high-speed pursuit on Sunday, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Cedric Pittman, 18, of Lake Charles, is a suspect in a Saturday night robbery in Beaumont, according to Beaumont authorities. Pittman is facing charges in Iowa related to Sunday's pursuit.

Beaumont authorities said the pursuit happened following a traffic stop at around 1:20 a.m. Sunday. Officers with the Iowa Police Department attempted to stop a 2001 Infiniti for a traffic violation on Hwy. 90, authorities said.

Authorities said Pittman, the driver, fled and crashed into a house.

"Officers took the driver into custody and no one in the house suffered injury," the release states.

Authorities said Iowa officers then discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen during the Beaumont robbery at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

"During the robbery, the owner of the Infiniti pulled into his driveway where two men confronted him. One of the men struck the owner with a handgun and both men stole the car. The owner suffered a minor injury during the robbery," the release states.

Pittman is charged by Iowa Police with reckless operation, flight from an officer, illegal possession of stolen property, aggravated criminal damage of property and other traffic-related violations.
