Mardi Gras festivities in store this weekend

It's Friday!  Wahoo!  Britney Glaser here in the KPLC 7Newsroom with a look at what's in store on today's Sunrise:

*We're still over a week away from Mardi Gras, but there's a lot in store this weekend.  We'll tell you where you can get into the festive spirit early in a family-friendly atmosphere.

*The standoff in rural Alabama between police and a man holding a five-year-old boy hostage enters its fourth day.  We'll update the situation and tell you the plan today to try to convince Jimmy Lee Dykes to surrender.

*It's National Wear Red Day!  You can show your support for raising awareness of heart disease and stroke in women.  Our Sunrise crew is sporting the color!

*We'll have a live interview with Hal McMillin in today's outdoor report.

*Teachers with advanced degrees have the opportunity to earn up to $1,600 more at the end of the year, but after 2015 Louisiana teachers won't get the extra cash.  Find out why the state department is making the change.
