DeRidder police investigating abduction attempt

DERIDDER, LA (KPLC) - DeRidder authorities are investigating an abduction attempt.

According to a news release from the DeRidder Police Department, at around 1 p.m. Wednesday, a woman was walking her dog near the intersection of Lucius Drive and Parkview Avenue when she reportedly passed a tan or gold sedan parked with the back door open and hood up.

Authorities said the woman reported that when she walked past the vehicle, a black male with his face partially covered came from around the hood area and threw a white, powdery substance in her face.

The man reportedly grabbed her around her throat and attempted to drag her into the vehicle but she managed to break free.

The man then reportedly got into the vehicle and sped away, authorities said.

The suspect is described as around 5-feet, 10-inches to 6-feet tall with a muscular build.

The man reportedly has a skin discoloration on his right wrist and was also reportedly wearing a black New Orleans Saints pullover hooded jacket.

Beauregard Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the reported attempted abduction.
