Lake Charles man facing multiple drug charges

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles man is accused of several drug-related charges, according to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Kenneth R. Chieves, 37, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation by the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team), along with the assistance of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Anti-Crime, Tactical & Training Unit (ACT-Team).

Authorities executed a search warrant at Chieves' home on 13th Street on Tuesday.

Authorities said during the search of the home, detectives located approximately 48 grams of methamphetamine, three grams of powder cocaine, six grams of crack cocaine and several small baggies of marijuana. 

Authorities said detectives also located a .40 caliber handgun, along with over $1,600 cash.

Authorities said Chieves, who is currently on parole for a previous possession of CDS II conviction, was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. 

He is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of CDS II (powder cocaine) with intent to distribute, possession of CDS II (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute, possession of CDS II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

Chieves was also charged on a warrant for distribution of CDS II (methamphetamine) in connection with a separate case.

Bond in the case was set at $705,000.
