Trial for man accused in stabbing death delayed

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

There is a new delay in the trial of a man accused in the stabbing death of a woman in a Lake Charles high rise.

Deon Granger is charged in the death of 26-year-old Theresa Green.

His trial was set for Monday, but it was continued, according to court officials.

Investigators said her body was discovered in Granger's apartment at Chateau du Lac.

Granger previously pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to second-degree murder.

No new trial date has been given.

    Zachary Bench was sentenced to life in prison for second-degree murder on Friday, said Patsy Dugas, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu District Attorney's Office.

    Bench was found guilty of the 2015 murder of Jody Barlow in March.
