CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles man is accused of carnal knowledge and sexual battery, according to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said on Jan. 25, at approximately 1:30 p.m., deputies patrolling the area of Smith Road in Lake Charles came in contact with Jonathan J. Singleton, 20, of Lake Charles, and a 14-year-old female, walking on the roadway.

Authorities said during an initial interview, Singleton told deputies that he had inappropriate sexual contact with the 14-year-old girl, who was an acquaintance.

"Singleton and the 14-year-old girl were transported to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, where the investigation was turned over to detectives. When questioned by detectives, Singleton confirmed he had inappropriate sexual contact with the 14-year-old girl on numerous occasions since November 2012," the release states.

Singleton was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with six counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and three counts of sexual battery.

Bond in the case is set at $450,000.
