PPG & Georgia Gulf merger nearly complete

Good Evening,

Lee Peck from the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on for Nightcast.

The suspect in the deadly shooting in St. Mary Parish that left one officer and civilian dead and injured two other officers has been charged in the shooting. Authorities plan to hold a joint news conference Monday to discuss the case and release the names of the victims.

Plus, the merger between PPG's commodity chemical business and Atlanta-based Georgia Gulf could become official on Monday. Georgia Gulf officials confirm they are very close to completing the merger. We'll have details.

Good news for residents living in Grand Lake. The Cameron Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness reports the Grand Lake Pontoon Bridge has been repaired and reopened. A pivot arm on the bridge was damaged Saturday after being hit by a barge.

And it's about that time again. KPLC's Gerron Jordan talks with a local tax preparer on what you need to know before filing your income tax return.

Both the McNeese Men and Women's basketball teams were on the road this weekend. Seth Lewis has a recap and reaction in Sports.

And shame on you if you didn't get out and enjoy this wonderful weather we had across Southwest Louisiana this weekend. But changes could be on the way by mid-week… 7 Storm Team Meteorologist Cedric Haynes has your complete forecast.

Due to a programming change we will be going on eight minutes late tonight. We hope you'll join us for all this and more on 7 News Nightcast. Until then we're always on at kplctv.com.

Governor John Bel Edwards signed a new bill into law that drone operators say will have a positive impact for both commercial use and for those flying them just for fun.
