SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -
More arrests have been made in the armed robbery of a Radio Shack in Sulphur.
Last week, Jason Rashad Barnes, 21, and James Undra Cooper, 21, both of Houston, Texas, were charged with three counts of armed robbery and three counts of robbery with a firearm in the case. Both are being held on $750,000 bond.
On Thursday, Sulphur authorities said additional arrests were made in the case. Arrested were Stacey Parker, 24, of Highlands Texas; Christian E. Earvin, 24, of Highlands, Texas; and Dariana Bridges, 20, in Spring Texas.
Sulphur Police Chief Lewis Coats said the armed robbery happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. Jan. 24.
Police were dispatched to an area near the store in reference to some suspicious men in a neighboring yard.
Coats said while responding, officers were informed that an armed robbery was in progress at Radio Shack and suspects were in the building. He said officers surrounded the building. The suspects then reportedly exited the building and fled on foot, one out the back door.
"An officer posted at the back door ordered the suspect to stop. The suspect disregarded the command and made an aggressive movement toward the officer, who fired his weapon," Coats said.
Coats said one of the other suspects was apprehended a short distance away after he was located behind a building. Coats said later, another suspect was taken into custody at a Wal-Mart in Lake Charles by the Lake Charles Police Department with the assistance of the Louisiana State Police.
Coats said there was an undetermined amount of money taken, along with a large amount of merchandise. He said some of the merchandise has been recovered. No employees were injured in the incident.
Coats said it was Earvin who was wounded by an officer while fleeing Radio Shack during the armed robbery. Earvin later went to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas where he was treated for a gun-shot injury. Officers of the Harris County Sheriff's Office responded and after receiving information of the robbery, contacted the Sulphur Police Department.
Upon further investigation, Earvin was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas for three counts of armed robbery and three counts of armed robbery with a firearm. Earvin's bond was set at $750,000.00.
Upon further investigation by the Sulphur Police Detective Division and the Baytown Police Detective Division, warrants were served on Parker and Bridges.
Parker was booked into the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas on one count of armed robbery and one count of armed robbery with a firearm. Parker's bond was set at $1 million.
Bridges was booked into the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas on one count of armed robbery and one count of armed robbery with a firearm. Bridges' bond was set at $500,000.
Lake Charles authorities say Cooper and Barnes are also accused of robbing the Radio Shack on Derek Drive in Lake Charles on Jan. 24.
Cooper and Barnes have been charged with four counts of armed robbery and four counts of armed robbery with a firearm by Lake Charles authorities. Bonds for both on the Lake Charles charges is set at $1 million each.
This investigation has been a joint effort between the Sulphur Police Department, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, the Lake Charles Police Department, Baytown Police Department, Harris County Sheriff's Office and Houston Police Department.
Those with information in the case are asked to call 337-527-4550, or Crime Stoppers 337-439-2222.
