Lake Charles police make arrest in armed robbery case

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The Lake Charles Police Department has made an arrest in an armed robbery case.

According to a news release from the Lake Charles Police Department, Christian Syas was arrested by police on Monday after an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Evans Street.

Authorities said the officer found marijuana inside the vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia. 

Authorities said Syas was booked on possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Authorities said Syas also had outstanding warrants for armed robbery and armed robbery with a firearm.

Bond was set at $100,000 on each charges, authorities said.

Authorities said the warrants were a result of an investigation conducted in October.

Authorities said on Oct. 12, 2012 at 9:28 p.m., police were dispatched to Cypress Apartments on 5th Avenue) in reference to an armed robbery. 

Authorities said further investigation led detectives to obtain an arrest warrant for the above two charges against Syas.
