JEFF DAVIS PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

Jeff Davis Parish authorities are reporting a drug arrest stemming from a traffic stop on I-10.

According to a news release from Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office Commander of Criminal Investigations, Christopher Ivey, on Sunday, deputies made the stop on a 2004 Lexus.

Jazman Javar Tolivar, 28, of Lafayette, was a passenger in the vehicle, which was initially stopped for speeding, according to Ivey.

Ivey said deputies could smell the odor of marijuana from the vehicle.

The vehicle's owner reportedly consented to a search.

Deputies utilized a K-9 to search the vehicle.

Ivey said deputies discovered a baby bottle containing Promethazine, 11 whole tablets and six pieces of Xanax tablets, 2 Adderall tablets, a small amount of marijuana and a grinder in the vehicle.

Tolivar told deputies the items were his, Ivey said.

Tolivar was booked on charges of possession of controlled dangerous substances schedule I, II, IV and V.
