TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
Tyler Police are searching for a suspect believed to be involved in the robbery of two donut shops Monday morning.
Just before 7 a.m., police received a call reporting a robbery in progress at the Tyler Donut Shop at 508 W. Front near the intersection of Chilton. The suspect was identified as a black male about 5' 10" wearing a gray hoodie. He fled the first robbery in cream colored vehicle, possibly a Honda Civic. The suspect made away with an undetermined amount of cash.
Around, 7:33 a.m. another call came in that the Country Donut Shop at 215 N. Beckham had also been robbed by a suspect matching the same description.
According to Tyler Police, the suspect displayed a handgun to the clerk at the Tyler Donut Shop, but not the shop on Beckham Street. However, he attempted to run out of the second shop with a cash register. He dropped the cash register while running from customers who were chasing him. He was able to get back into a vehicle and flee the scene.
Both cases are still under investigation and police are not sure at this time if the cases are related.
