More talks over possible LA income tax elimination

It's a wonderful Wednesday morning in the KPLC 7Newsroom!  Britney Glaser here with a preview of some of the stories we're covering on today's Sunrise:

*Concerns remain about Governor Bobby Jindal's tax reform plans.  The governor proposes to get rid of the state's income tax and replace it with a higher sales tax.  Find out why some people are concerned about changes to property taxes.

*Later today, the state's top education board is expected to approve changes that could impact accreditation, school librarians and counselors.  Hear from CPSB Superintendent Wayne Savoy about what he says about protecting counselors' jobs.

*Also today, President Obama will announce his proposal to combat gun violence.  The president will hold an event at the White House just before noon today to offer a comprehensive plan to reduce gun tragedies.  We'll have a preview of that announcement.

*Many local veterans say they are upset over conditions at the VA Clinic in Lake Charles.  Find out what they refer to as unacceptable conditions.

*We are just a couple of days away from seeing lots of sunshine!  Meteorologist Ben Terry will have your forecast that he promises will look much better...soon!

    The Army Corps of Engineers plans to issue the necessary permits for the Bayou Bridge pipeline, according to a news release from the office of Congressman Clay Higgins. The news release said Colonel Michael Clancy, of the Army Corps of Engineers, announced Thursday that the New Orleans District has concluded its environmental assessment and will issue necessary permits to Bayou Bridge Pipeline, LLC.     Daigle attorneys seek trial delay and different parish for change of venue

    Defense attorneys for Kevin Daigle were in state court on Friday asking for his trial to be delayed again and that the judge choose a different place to pick a jury. Daigle also was in court. He's accused of first-degree murder of State Trooper Steven Vincent in 2015.
