BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A man wanted for murder in Baton Rouge is now in custody in Lafayette.

Ruben Van Dyke is currently in Lafayette Parish Prison, awaiting extradition back to Baton Rouge. He was arrested by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force around 9 a.m.

Van Dyke will be charged with the murder of 32-year-old Brannon Counts. Van Dyke will later be transported to Baton Rouge where he will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, and Illegal Use of a Dangerous Weapon.
