Murder charge for boyfriend in connection to woman's body found

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Deputies Friday morning arrested a man for 2nd degree murder.  Detectives say the man, whose name has not been released, is the boyfriend of the woman whose body was found south of Lake Charles. Chief Deputy Stitch Guillory will release more information later in the day.

Sheriff's deputies received a phone call around 3:15 p.m. Thursday stating that an unidentified body had been found near Friesen and Corbina roads in South Lake Charles.

CPSO is still in the beginning stages of the investigation, but Chief Deputy Stitch Guillory said the body is that of an unknown white female who appeared to be mid-aged. The body was found in a ditch.

"There are some injuries to the body, but we're not sure if they're old injuries or new injuries," Guillory said. He said the body has been sent to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office for an assessment to figure out the cause of death and from there, CPSO will start with the investigation.

Guillory said it appears someone might have dumped the body in this rural area of Calcasieu Parish, but he said they are unsure of that.

"We're early in the investigation. We're going to try to identify the body, and our job is to try to locate the next of kin and we'll take it from there and start our investigation," he said.

If anyone has seen anything suspicious or seen any vehicle suspicious, or if they have any information, please call the Sheriff's Office at 491-3700.

"We're looking for any tips," Guillory said.
