Man arrested in beating at New Year's Eve party

Happy New Year,

Lee Peck from the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on this first day of 2013.

A New Year's Eve party turned violent sending one man to the hospital and another to jail. We'll have details why authorities say charges could be upgraded.

Plus, as forecasted we ushered in the New Year with rain. Meteorologist Cedric Haynes will have your forecast and tell us how much more we can expect.

Meanwhile all that rain made getting to and from in some parts of South Lake Charles difficult for residents. KPLC's Theresa Schmidt managed to navigate through the flooded streets and has our storm coverage.

And babies are born every day, but it's the bundles of joy of the New Year that get all the attention. KPLC's Gerron Jordan introduces us to the New Year's babies of Southwest Louisiana.

We'll see you at Live at Five and tonight at Six for all of these stories and more or anytime at kplctv.com.
