Fireworks safety, property tax deadline, & New Year's forecast

Good Evening,

Lee Peck from the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on for Nightcast.

Part of ringing in the New Year usually includes fireworks - tonight KPLC's Gerron Jordan has a "safety first" story that every family who plans to light up the sky should watch.

Have you paid your property taxes? Tomorrow marks the deadline for Calcasieu residents to pay up or face penalties. We'll explain.

Also just 24 hours before the nation goes over the so-called "fiscal cliff." The latest from Washington as top Senate negotiators continue the effort to avert tax hikes on virtually every worker.

We also show you how locals are celebrating Kwanzaa and the meaning behind the tradition.

It's the New Orleans Saints season finale. KPLC's Sam Gannon will have highlights and reaction on what will be her final night on the sports desk before she heads to Oklahoma City.

The cold weather continues and our rain chances are the increase. Meteorologist Cedric Haynes is back tonight with your New Year's forecast.

We'll see you tonight following NFL Sunday Night Football. But remember we're always on at kplctv.com.
