WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A newly built home was left heavily damaged after it caught fire Saturday morning.

Officials say the home which is located in the 600 block of County Road 1858 in Wood County caught fire just before 10am Saturday. Upon arrival, Yantis fire crews found the garage and part of the kitchen under heavy flames. They were able to extinguish those flames.

Much of the home did received extensive smoke and water damage. There was also a boat in the garage that was a total loss.

Officials say the newly built home was still under construction at the time. Nobody was home when this fire started and nobody was injured. The cause remains under investigation. Yantis crews were assisted by Quitman, Coke/Pleasant Grove, Alba and Land's End crews.
