Merry Christmas... Cooler weather on the way

Lee Peck here from the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on for 7 News Live at Five and 7 News at Six.

The big story we have been watching all night and into today was the weather situation. It looks as though the worst has passed. Aside from a lot of rain Southwest Louisiana dodged the worst of the severe weather. Meteorologist Cedric Haynes has all the details and the cooler weather on the way. 

Also on this Christmas Day what better way to celebrate than by giving to those in need. We stop by Abraham's Tent where the mission to feed the homeless continues. KPLC's Gerron Jordan also introduces you to a family that continues their tradition of giving to those less fortunate.

Plus, many of you are likely enjoying time with family and friends today – but there are a select few that are on the clock this holiday. We catch up with those working on Christmas.

We'll also update two of yesterday's top stories: the homicide investigation in Ragley and the fire at PPG that sent one worker to the hospital.

And I just asked Sam Gannon what we can expect in sports… her answer, "NBA, NBA, NBA!"

    Reports of tropical funnel clouds were sent in by viewers on the afternoon of Saturday, April 22 as thunderstorms moved across parts of Southwest Louisiana.  According to the 7Stormteam, these are a common occurrence in Louisiana with thunderstorms, especially in the summer months, and rarely ever touch down.     Authorities have released new details of the investigation into the homicide of Justin Grantham.

    The body of the 25-year-old Calcasieu Parish man was found on Friday around noon, after his alleged killer led deputies to where he left his body.
